Montgomery County Fair (…”visiting Lulu”)

One of E’s favorite books these days is Goodnight, Lulu. And she is also *really* into Aunt Lin’s chickens, demanding “watch the chickens” every time she thinks there is a video on an iPhone. So the fair this year was all about the “Lulu” barn, with the chickens. She also took in the cows, the sheep, the goats, and a horse show, among the other fun fair to-do’s.

E did NOT want to leave the Y tonight. She wanted to stay on the BALANCE BEAM, LIKE GABBY!

Off topic post — My mom: “Cancer Sucks”

Family & Friends,

Those of you that know my mom probably know she isn’t one to use the word “sucks” about much of anything. But if you’re getting this email you probably agree with her recent instant message assessment. I do.  Because like her, most of us know far too many people who are fighting and who have fought this disease that affects millions of people.
People like Dianne, who is about to start another round of chemo and radiation in her cancer fight. People like my Uncle Mark, who just had a malignant tumor successfully removed. People like my cousin J, a survivor.
People like Lou, whose voice is missing from yet another election cycle. (And how we would have loved to hear his take on the Wisconsin VP pick!)
People like Bork, who found out around this time last year, that she had Hodgkins Lymphoma. (She kicked its @**!)
People like Mandy, the inspiring team leader of Team Stronger, who today had what we all hope was her last chemo treatment. Ever.
People like my Grandpa, who passed away 11 years ago tonight. From cancer.
So, in about two months, I’m running the Baltimore Half Marathon and raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as a participant in their Team In Training program. I’m asking you to help by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Please consider donating something toward my fundraising goal.  Every dollar will help. You can donate online at:
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
